Kensuke's Kingdom

 In class for the last three terms we have been reading a book call Kensuke's Kingdom by Michel Mopurgo. The book is about a boy whose dad was made redundent in England so he bought a boat to sail around the world but at some point the boy was swept off the boat. When he woke up he was on an island. With the help of an old Japanse army veteran he tried to find his way home.  Here is my book review on it.

 This term we had to make short stories that were between 400 and 700 words.  My storie was below.

THE LIES OF LONDON

June 19 1541

IN London, England, there was a castle on the smack center of a mountain where no man had ever been able to get to.  The king and people were brought up by a dragon. The king hired only the best to build the castle. Across from the castle, an evil shadow demon had his cave and other cursed shadows. One day a man came to the king and said the shadow king had prepared for a war against the castle. The king asked the blacksmith to make one hundred swords for the troops but the blacksmith said “I am the only blacksmith in the kingdom how will I make one hundred in three days?”, The king searched the land for more blacksmiths until he found a kingdom selling over fifty blacksmiths for 100 gold pieces. The deal was made and in less than a day they made over 100 swords.  The king then said I need 1000 bow and arrows. The job was done quicker than the last. As the sun had gone down the blacksmiths finished.

                           June 20 1541

There were two days until the war and the troops were training for the war when the king received a letter there was a bounty on his head “This is impossible, who would put a bounty on my head?”, said the king. 

“It must have been one of the shadow demons my lord”, said a guard.

“Yes,” said the other guard. Soon the king became scared for his life as he could be killed in his sleep. Eight of his troops had been ordered to sleep in the days and guard the king in the night.

That day a troop came in with an arrow through his stomach the king gasped “what has happened to you?” said the king. “Was there an accident on the firing range?” added the king. The troop said in pain “one of the shadow demons shot me the arrow has a note for you” said the troop. As the king read he was amazed the shadow demon king had wanted to delay the war “but why has he shot one of my men to send the note?” The war had been delayed to June twenty fifth. “More time to train,” said the king. He then noticed that the troop flopped dead in front of him. Once he was buried the troops were sent back to training for the rest of the day. That night those troops who slept in the day went to guard the king.  One guard saw something on the opposite mountain. It was glowing red eyes from a shadow demon he was watching them. 

                                  June 21 1541 

As the sun came over the hill and the king woke up alive and well the troops were ordered to bed “four days left” said the king. 

As one of the troops were leaving one said  “when the sun turns black and the sky turns red we will know when it comes”. (remember this) “When what comes?” asked the king. There was no response. As the king finished something hit him in the head.

                      June 25 1541 day of the war

The king woke up in a cage with two shadow demons in front of him.  He soon realized that he had been knocked unconscious by a shadow demon. Five minutes later he was given some slop to eat.  Even though it was disgusting the 

the king ate all of it because he hadn’t eaten in days. The king was let outside for a couple of minutes and saw what one of his troops had described. The sun was black and the sky was red. A dragon was destroying his castle. He was soon picked up and hung by the shadow king; he was dead. 

Other prisoners who were his troops had to watch this happen as he was dying. Over at the king's castle, it had been burned to the ground and all the dragons and dragon eggs were stolen as well as his gold. The shadow demon castle was moved to the kings hill by the same builder who built the castle bigger and stronger than before.

                              December 25 2020

Years later the shadow king died.  His son took over and took over all of Europe,Asia, South America,North America and soon Oceania as they are now called.

Forces And Motion DLO

 Last week on wensday we did a forces and motion day to show we had been learning for this term.  On this day each class was mixed with the other seven classes and did differant stations. The point of this day was to make learning fun and be creative with the learning we have learnt over the past weeks.  After this we made DLOs to show what we learnt in the differant stations my DLO is below

Digital Technology Matariki-Bluebots and QR Codes

For Matariki we learnt about the stars. We made a special bluebot mats. On the mat we had QR codes and when you scanned them you learnt about the stars. The kids had to code the bluebots to get the QR codes. Welearnt that there are nine stars in the cluster and that each star has its own name and somthing that it is connected to like the sea or the wheather. (The photos up top are from this)
